Hostels €25–45 · mid hotels €80–160 · luxury €200+ per night (city.yaml, checked Aug 2026). Plaka and Koukaki charge premiums for Acropolis proximity; Psiri trades lane charm for nightlife noise. A seven-night mid-range stay at €100/night is already €700 before food — that is why area choice matters more than star ratings. Splitting nights (three in Koukaki, two on the Riviera) only pays if you value beach mornings via bus 040 enough to lose walking access to the Agora.

Walk Plaka, Monastiraki and the Acropolis slopes for free (city.yaml walkable core). OASA single €1.20, day pass €4.10 (oasa.gr, checked Aug 2026). Metro Line 3 airport ticket €9; X95 express €5.50 to Syntagma (aia.gr / oasa.gr). Taxi ATH to centre €40 day flat / €55 night 00:00–05:00 (aia.gr, checked Aug 2026). Metro Line 1 to Piraeus ferries included on the 90-minute urban ticket.
Museums and attractions
